When did your child start playing with imaginary friends?

My son will be four this weekend. Within the last week, he has started playing with imaginary friends. Most of the time he tells me that his friends from daycare came home with him and he's playing with them. Last night, he was playing outside with "JoJo" (a goat). lol!

Also, is it more common for only children to have imaginary friends?
For the record: I'm not the least bit worried about it. I love his creative imagination.

I may not be a parent, but I treat my own little sister as more of my child. But to answer to your question, I am a child not long before, so I suppose I started having imaginary friends around 4 years old. This kind of symptoms are mostly due to the fact that the child is lonely, with no one to play with at home. Also, it is best to invite children of the same age to play with your child as children will be more willing to open up and speak their mind other children of the same age.

I can deduce this as my sister lived around with a lot children around the same age of hers, and she does not have imaginary friends, unlike me. I have imaginary friends at the age of 4 and due to the fact that I do not have friends who come over to play with.
